      You Always Make Me Smile

As part of its campaign for Holiday Inn, McCann New York teamed up with us students (from the BYU AdLab) to create this music video for Kyle Andrews' You Always Make Me Smile.

McCann & Holiday Inn formed a record label, StayU Music, to "produce, distribute, promote and share revenue from" Andrews' original track, which was featured in the ad campaign that broke in the spring of 2010.

We, the students, conceived, storyboarded and worked with BYU film students to shoot the three-minute music video during the world's largest water balloon fight, which we planned. 48 solid hours of filling ballons. By hand. 10 cameras. 4,000 extras.

Epic. On an epic scale. More ______(insert synonym for epic) than epic itself.

By the way... it has well over a million hits... and counting.

      Don't Not Create

The Problem: Converse's Design Your Shoes can only be purchased online with a credit card, and the target market for the stylized shoes (between the ages of 8 & 18) don't have credit cards.

We found a solution to the problem (the ability to design shoes inside the store using a custom in-store Converse iPad) and created a campaign that focuses on the creative process behind creating your own shoe.

      A Healthy Competition

In order for City Harvest to establish themselves as THE solution for fighting hunger in New York City, they won't be able to do it on their own.

Lucky for them, they've got nearly 8.5 million people at their disposal. With over 1.6 million of those in Manhattan alone. They are proud to say they live in New York. So when it comes to choosing a place to live, they look for something that fits them individually.

Even though they are busy people, when a good cause hits close to home, they are fully invested.

      Hollywood or Bust

The challenge with SFA was to get students to relate to the film students and what they are all about.

By playing off of people's fond memories of films and pop culture, the ads were effective and quite popular.

      Original work includes logo design.

      Marry Me, Jon Hamm

Handsome. Smooth. Sexy. Like no motorcycle ad you've seen before.

Indian has a tepid history. So instead of playing up the history of the brand, play up the target market of the brand, which is the opposite from Harley.

We decided to target one person for an entire campaign. The idea is to get this one person who embodies the future of the brand to ride an Indian.

We needed someone suave, someone sexy, someone smart. We needed John Hamm.

      Paper Paper Everywhere

The challenge from the Library of Congress was to find a way to involve children in the reading process.

Research shows that children develop relationships with books; oftentimes those relationships lead to games where two different characters cross over into each other's world.

We decided to play on that crossover by allowing kids to finish a story that we started in our print ads.

I spent hours cutting out paper craft before laying the art out and photographing it. The result is fun, unique and AWESOME.

      It'll Scratch That Itch

There are some conversations you just don't want to have with your parents.

The challenge with Gold Bond was to address the effectiveness of the brand in eliminating certain itches without mentioning certain areas.

The campaign builds off the idea that these people are just one big group of users.

      Nike Snagged My Design!

During the Texas Rangers' historic run to the World Series, I created a line of shirts that went viral and stirred up some dust.

The shirts gained popularity thanks to our tweets we sent out. Yes, I testify Twitter works.

Thousands were printed and sold before MLB sent us a cease and desist order.

Then I got a call from a writer at ESPN.com and he said Nike had just released a design that was based on my shirt! They lifted my design! No wonder they shut me down.

I suppose that's the way baseball go.

I love film and I like to make movies, as well.

I took a flight recently and I decided to make a film during my flight using only my phone. So I shot the with my phone and edited it while in the air. I uploaded it while I was waited to get off the plane.

This is what I like to do with free time; I'm always creating.
